I really dislike reading technical books of any kind. Strange thing for someone who's favorite author is Isaac Asimov to say but, as technical as Asimov's writings were, they were always entertaining. I have read many instruction manuals and found precious few of them both entertaining and informative. This is not the case with books I have read by Scott Kelby. I have always found Scott's books both entertaining and informative. Scott's "Classic Photoshop Effects" is no exception.

You will find right from the beginning how entertaining Scott can be. Entertaining enough to forgive him his little deception at the beginning. As far as informative goes… Scott gives you a wealth of information in this book. The book is written more with the graphic artist in mind but it will give photographers loads of new tips and tricks for post processing. Sit down with your computer, load Photoshop, and bring up a few photos. Now open the book and follow Scott's easy steps to photo excellence!

I really like the way Scott tells you why and shows you how with these easy instruction steps. Go anywhere in the book, find any effect you want to try. You don't have to do these effects in order. Pick and choose what you like. They are not interdependent. Find out how to use a single photo as both background and focal point, how to cast shadows to make your subject look like it's standing vertical on the horizontal background, put a reflection of a photo in a mirror, sunglasses or any reflective surface, give an object a carved into look, easily change the color of an object and many many more great "Classic Effects"!

Turn your photos into graphic works of art by following Scott's simple step by step instructions. Got a client who wants you to sell his product with your photographs? You can't do it better or easier than with these great effects.

I have always enjoyed and learned from Scott's books and "Classic Photoshop Effects" is not an exception.
